Warning signs
Alert us if you observe any of these signs in an older or dependent adult.
- Inconsistent explanations for injuries
- Changes in thinking, confusion, or disorientation
- Missing personal belongings, papers, or credit cards
- Lack of food, water, utilities, medications, or medical care
- Unusual changes to the person’s financial accounts or other important documents
- Caregiver has a history of substance abuse, mental illness, criminal behavior, or family violence
- Caregiver is angry, indifferent, or aggressive toward the person
